Alliance - Union Novels   Kesrith | Shon'jir | Kutath |
Cherryh has produced several award-winning novels including Hugo Award winning "Downbelow Station(1982)" and "Cyteen(1989)". If you enjoy either one, you will have become hooked on her Alliance-Union Universe. They all share a common history and societal makeup. World building on an incredible scale. As well as seriously good reads, the societies and politics are fascinating. Some novels may be out of print, but check for good used copies on Amazon or your local second hand book store, or The Library! |
|
Chanur Novels - Compact Space |
The Chanur series is made up of 5 books. A prologue novel ("The Pride of Chanur"), a 3-part series ("Chanur's Venture", "The Kif Strike Back" and "Chanur's Homecoming"), and an epilogue novel ("Chanur's Legacy" The "Saga" Volume contains the first 3 Novels: Pride, Venture, & Kif. |
|
The Foreigner novels *may* be a part of the Alliance/Union universe, but it is never explicitly referenced. The characters and World building are just as complete as those in Cyteen and Downbelow Station. An Excellent set of reads. |

Vows and Honor |
Once you start on these books, assuming you enjoy fantasy) You will find yourself sucked into the world(s) of Valdemar. I started off reading "The heralds of Valdemar" series, and soon found myself sucked into all the others. I now have all of these novels in Hardcover accept for the earliest books which i don't believe were ever published in hardcover. Sigh. |

The Universe of Honor Harrington |
What can I say? I stated off reading these Novels in paperback, and soon was buying them all in Hardcover. I couldn't wait for the next chapter in her storied life! Exceedingly great books. Again, as with the novels of Bill Baldwin (listed in the SF section), they have clear-cut good guys and bad guys. The social setup and world building is first rate. You really wind up caring for the folk in these novels. I eventually replaced all the paperback editions with Hardcover editions! If you like a strong female lead character who is eminently believable, you will Love Honor Harrington! |
|
The Empire Novels |
Here again, I started in paperback and graduated to hardcover editions. The Publishers have even published them all as a single hardcover edition. I hope Mr. Weber does another in this series! |
